March…along with Winter has left us now but did remember to introduce our favourite season – S P R I N G!!! Yay. Now we can celebrate sunny days and blue skies with flowers beginning to bloom and brighten our lives as well as trees becoming greener and more beautiful too.

This Fresh Start should be a part of our Beings…both physically and mentally as we continue to celebrate LIFE with the gift of the year we have been given. Time to let go of grudges, misunderstandings and all those dreary feelings and reach up and out towards others around us with sharing and caring.

And time to paint! Time to create. Let the Spirit shine.

On that topic – what was A O K up to this past month? As we often seem to do, we went off on our different paths getting together only occasionally. Perhaps more time could be spent in the Community atmosphere that was the original motivation behind starting up A O K. You know, artists working together.

Shortly after the excitement of our late February Show entitled

F R E N Z Y, I went off to Canada while Michele, my co-organizer of the event returned to Thailand to obtain more art from wonderful artists for Veronel , her online platform for art sales.

A O K artists Shibani Luthra, Sefi Kerem and Iza Kostrzewska showed their work individually at ART FRESH 2018 on Sunday, March held at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Warsaw, organized by IFW, the International Friends of Warsaw. A great opportunity to show their work to a larger public and make sales!!

Meanwhile, I was delighted to enjoy and take part in the vibrant artistic community in Windsor, Ontario. When I am in Town, I try to participate as much as possible in the organizations I belong to. They are: ARA – Association of Representational Artists who have monthly meetings and organize large group shows to promote our work. It is run by an enthusiastic executive that include the energetic Trudy Dempsey and Mariano Klimowicz, among other volunteers, who put a great deal of time and effort in keeping things running smoothly.

I have the pleasure of attending lovely group painting sessions in nearby LaSalle, under the direction of the generous and warm-hearted Dennis K. Smith who guides us when we have questions about technique or direction. The Ladies are a lot of fun too, as the chatter and laughter can attest.

The contemporary art space located in the heart of Downtown Windsor organizes numerous shows and events. The artist-run centre encourages dialogue between the artists and seeks to challenge the status quo.

And there is W A C – Walkerville Artists Co-Op found in the creative region of Windsor known as Walkerville. It is also run by artists who truly share in the day-to-day running of the Gallery space by taking turns to be ‘on duty’ (and what a high it is to directly sell art to happy customers – even it if it is not your painting but one by a fellow member!).

Our associate and intrepid photographer (among his other talents), Les Szurkowski, has now returned from his amazing adventures in Australia and we look forward to seeing his new photography collection. Here is just one:

Time to carry on now, and wish you all a wonderful month of

A P R I L
